He Fits Right In With Biden’s Own Past | “Biden ATF nominee accused of racism, hiding statements from lawmakers”
President Biden’s choice to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has come under additional pressure this week due to alleged racism and failure to disclose some public remarks to the Senate committee weighing his nomination.
Late last month, the gun policy news site The Reload reported on racist comments David Chipman allegedly made while a supervisor at the ATF office in Detroit. A current ATF official told the website that Chipman “made some comments that he was surprised by the number of African Americans who have made it onto a specific promotional list.”
“His insinuation was that they had to have cheated,” the official added to The Reload. “Which is kind of despicable.” The official went on to say that “Chipman did not leave Detroit on the best of terms. His reputation was that he was not nice to people.”
Fox News reported in June that Chipman had confirmed in written responses to senators’ questions that two Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaints had been filed against him, but added that “both complaints were resolved without any finding of discrimination, and no disciplinary action was taken against me.”
On Wednesday, a black former ATF agent claimed that Chipman argued that the agent must have cheated on a promotion exam because he had performed so well.
“He said, ‘Hey, a lot of African Americans qualified to be promoted on this certification list; they must have been cheating,’” the unidentified former agent told The Reload. “And then he had to go and find one. I happened to be that one.”
The former agent added that he was cleared after an investigation by the Justice Department Inspector General’s Office. However, he claimed that the experience dissuaded him from seeking to move up at the ATF. . . .

Just to be clear: There were adults who cared about Julissia Batties. Yet their care couldn’t overcome the illogic of a child-welfare machine that returned her to an abusive family environment that this week ended her life: Julissia’s half-brother allegedly beat the 7-year-old to death for taking snacks from the kitchen, an attack subsequently covered up by her own mother.
Her grandmother for years had cared for Julissia. There were city Administration for Children’s Services caseworkers who tried to keep her away from her abusive mother and siblings, even going to the highest courts in the state to keep her safe. There were even concerned neighbors who repeatedly called authorities when they saw what was happening.
The story of Julissia Batties isn’t a story of hidden child abuse, of what goes on behind closed doors. It is the story of a system that favors placing children with their biological parents no matter what the danger, then delays action until it is too late.
Julissia had been taken from her mother at birth. Little wonder, since the mother had lost custody of her four older children in 2013 over safety concerns. A family-court judge initially granted her mother custody — God only knows why — but ACS lawyers appealed the decision and won. . . .

Other highlights include one man screaming “Cuomo you put pineapple on yo pizza and you get no p***y,” and another exclaiming, “You’re next DeBlasio, you’re f***ing next, we on yo ass boy, we on yo ass boy.” Another man screamed even louder, “Cuomo, you thought you’d get away with this s**t, when I see you, I’m gonna grab you by yo f****in’ neck.”
The crowd also cheered on a man wearing a Donald Trump costume with a black wave cap, and chanted in unison, “Cuomo get no p***y, Cuomo get no p***y,” an accusation which seemed strange given that the embattled former governor faced accusations of using his position of power to touch women sexually.
As National File previously reported last week, Democrat President Joe Biden got into a heated exchange with a CNN reporter when questioned over his effusive praise for Cuomo:
“Can I quickly follow up on your comment on Governor Cuomo?” Collins demanded during a presser on Tuesday. “Can you really say he has done ‘a hell of a job’ if he’s accused of sexually harassing women on the job?”
“Look, you’re asking two different questions,” Biden shot back. “Now, I asked the substantive – should he remain as governor is one question. And women should be believed when they make accusations that are on the face of them if they make sense, and investigate them, and if they’re investigated and the judgement was made that what they said was correct. That’s one thing. The question is, did he do a good job on infrastructure? That was the question. He did.”
“The question was how he did as a governor,” Collins snapped. “He was accused of sexually harassing.” She then asked Biden to if he could separate Cuomo’s policies from his personal conduct, to which Biden replied, “No, I’m not, I’m trying to answer a specific question. I was asked a specific question. What do you want to ask me specifically?”

NY Supreme Court Sides With Project Veritas, Allows Group To Depose The New York Times
The New York Supreme Court sided with Project Veritas in a ruling Thursday, meaning the organization will be allowed to depose the New York Times.
The New York Times was sued last November over their coverage of a Veritas video that alleged people connected to Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar were involved in illegal ballot harvesting. The lawsuit pertained to two stories in the Times, one by Maggie Astor and another by Tiffany Hsu, that characterized Veritas’ video as “deceptive” and said it was likely part of a “coordinated disinformation campaign,” The Hill reported.
The court dismissed the Times’ initial motion to dismiss the case, a decision that the paper appealed. The Times asked the court to issue a stay to prevent Project Veritas from deposing the Times until the appeal was resolved, which could take years. “Here, having failed to convince the Court that [Project Veritas’] case should be dismissed, [The New York Times] also failed to demonstrate the extraordinary justification required for the imposition of the drastic remedy of a stay pending appeal,” the court said in their opinion, which was posted on Project Veritas’ Instagram account.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has effectively voted U.S. Reps. Jim Banks and Jim Jordan off the island in what Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is condemning as an “abuse of power.”
The two congressmen were set to serve on the so-called bipartisan select committee to investigate the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, but apparently they were too pro-Trump and too resistant to hyperbole, if not propaganda, for Pelosi’s liking, who has the final say.
“With respect for the integrity of the investigation, with an insistence on the truth and with concern about statements made and actions taken by these Members, I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan to the Select Committee. The unprecedented nature of January 6th demands this unprecedented decision,” Pelosi announced today.
Pelosi is evidently taking exception to the fact that both congressmen objected to the certification of the Election 2020 presidential outcome.
In her announcement, the speaker also claimed, “The violent domestic attack on Congress on January 6th was the worst assault on the Capitol since the War of 1812 and the worst domestic assault on American Democracy since the Civil War.” . . .

59 of 96 Phones Assigned to Robert Mueller Probe Missing: GOP Senators
Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Ron Jonhson (R-Wis.) sent a letter to the Department of Justice (DOJ) requesting more information about missing phones used by former special counsel Robert Mueller during his investigation into former President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign.
In a news release, the two senators said they were compelled to send a letter (pdf) to the agency after the DOJ failed to review more than 20 phones for federal record preservation after Grassley in September 2020 asked about a possible violation of federal record-keeping laws following a Freedom of Information Act revelation showing records on devices used by Mueller’s team were deleted.
The DOJ’s Office of the Inspector General in September 2020, the senators wrote, told them that several phones belonging to “multiple people on then-Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigative team were ‘wiped’ for various reasons during [the Russia investigation].” And on May 11 of this year, the inspector general said that 59 of 96 phones assigned to Mueller’s team couldn’t be located, according to the senators.
Relating to the phones, the two senators said they want the names of the Special Counsel’s Office team members whose cell phones are not reviewed by official records, if there are any actions being taken to recover the missing phones, and whether the DOJ reviewed the devices to see if “they were used to leak sensitive or classified information,” among other requests. . . .
