Clay Travis of Outkick Media to Lawmakers: ‘Big Tech Controls the Country’
Clay Travis, founder of conservative sports website Outkick Media, says that big tech companies have too much power and are infringing on Americans’ First Amendment rights. “Big Tech controls the country. And they control the country by deciding what you see. And Big Tech’s power is only growing in the wake of Joe Biden’s election,” Travis told lawmakers at the House Antitrust, Commercial, and Administrative Law Subcommittee at a hearing Friday. Travis recounted how after President Donald Trump joined his radio show on Aug. 11, 2020, on Outkick the Coverage, traffic for the website soared only to crash the next day. “Because Facebook killed our traffic. Overnight, our readership vanished on their site. We lost 68 percent of our Facebook users and 76 percent of our new users on the site,” Travis told lawmakers. He said his team concluded that because of the positive coverage of Trump, his organization was censored and lost thousands …

Pakistan Blocks Social Media App TikTok Over Indecency Complaint
ISLAMABAD—Pakistan on Thursday blocked the popular social media app TikTok after a court order over a complaint that it ran indecent content, a spokesman for the country’s telecoms regulator said. “The court has asked PTA to block access to TikTok,” Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) spokesman Khurram Mehran told Reuters, adding that the authority would comply with the order. A high court in the northwestern city of Peshawar said it ordered the ban after a private complainant said the social media app was spreading indecent content, said Jehanzeb Mehsud, a lawyer who represented the PTA. The service providers have been directed to immediately block access to TikTok, the regulator said in a statement. The app stopped working within an hour of the direction. A TikTok representative in Pakistan said strong safeguards were in place to keep inappropriate content off the platform. “In Pakistan, we have grown our local-language moderation team, and …

China, Big Tech & Big Business. Sometimes It’s Good To Look Back & Reflect.

Apple, China & Suicides
The year is 2007 and if you don’t know, there’s been another death related to product malfeasance and/or incompetence in China. This time, instead of lead in children’s toys or antifreeze in toothpaste, it has to do with the iPhone.
Yes, that beautifully designed, well thought out gizmo that many of us can no longer live without and have no idea how we did it before it was invented. Poor Sun Danyong. He’s the fellow who threw himself off the twelfth floor of his building after being questioned by security about the missing iPhone prototype.
One thing you don’t want to do in China is mess with a product intended to sell to the United States or is created by an American company. The Chinese government does not view this kindly. I imagine the people who fall into this category would rather off themselves than be handed over to the Chinese government.
The same fate met Mr. Zhang, of lead toys fame. They probably look at the fate of Zheng Xiaoyu and say, “Well, I’ll go my way. Good night.”
They don’t mess around in China. Forget sitting in death row for years, appeal after appeal. Two weeks for the whole trial and execution. Finito!
Reporters having to quickly get the information out to their bureau chiefs can always text the news to headquarters. On their iPhone, of course.
Below Is Foundational Information On Some Of The Issues With Big Tech
'Google’s China rapproachment has been spearheaded by Pichai, Google’s current CEO, a 46-year-old Indian-American who took the helm in October 2015. At a June 2016 conference in southern California, Pichai made his intentions clear. “I care about servicing users globally in every corner. Google is for everyone,” he said. “We want to be in China serving Chinese users.”' Google Employees have been warning us about China and Google under Pichai, for years. The censorship chickens have been coming home to roost ever since. Say hello to Dragonfly.
DRAGONFLY HAS COME TO AMERICA
Wondering Why Censorship Has Increased In America? Dragonfly, Censorship Through Algorithms and Human Surveillance, Has Landed Across All Platforms. “Many of us accepted employment at Google with the company’s values in mind, including its previous position on Chinese censorship and surveillance, and an understanding that Google was a company willing to place its values above its profits. After a year of disappointments including Project Maven, Dragonfly, and Google’s support for abusers, we no longer believe this is the case. This is why we’re taking a stand.”
