Top Researchers Are Calling For A Real Investigation Into The Origin Of Covid-19

A group of prominent biologists say there needs to be a “safe space” for asking whether the coronavirus came out of a lab.

A year ago, the idea that the covid-19 pandemic could have been caused by a laboratory accident was denounced as a conspiracy theory by the world’s leading journals, scientists, and news organizations. But the origin of the virus that has killed millions remains a mystery, and the chance that it came from a lab has become the theory that cannot be put to rest.

Now, in a letter in the journal Science, 18 prominent biologists—including the world’s foremost coronavirus researcher—are lending their weight to calls for a new investigation of all possible origins of the virus, and calling on China’s laboratories and agencies to “open their records” to independent analysis.

“We must take hypotheses about both natural and laboratory spillovers seriously until we have sufficient data,” the scientists write.

Joy Behar Claims Tim Scott ‘Doesn’t Understand’ The Difference Between A Racist Country And Systemic Racism

Joy Behar claimed Thursday that Republican South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott didn’t seem to understand the difference between a “racist country” and “systemic racism.”

Behar reacted to both President Joe Biden’s first address to a joint session of Congress and Scott’s rebuttal during the opening segment of ABC’s “The View.”

Cohost Whoopi Goldberg asked Behar to weigh in on Scott’s claim that the United States “is not a racist country.”

“Joy, what country is Tim Scott living in?” Goldberg asked.

Kamala Harris: America Isn’t a Racist Country — But We Have to ‘Speak Truth’ About History of Racism

Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday reacted to Sen. Tim Scott’s (R-SC) rebuttal to President Joe Biden’s congressional address.

In responding to Biden Wednesday, Scott pushed back against the notion of the United States being a “racist country.” His comments were met with backlash from Democrats and members of the media.

In an appearance on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Harris agreed with Scott about the country not being “racist,” but emphasized the importance of speaking “truth about the history of racism in our country and its existence today.”

Both critical race theory and “The 1619 Project” are based on the fundamental insight that slavery is, according to the Washington Times, “the centerpiece of the American narrative.”

The only way this moment could have come about is if Cheney wanted it to. Which is curious, since her relationship with Kevin McCarthy and the House GOP leadership is already “very near a breaking point.”

She made sure to issue a statement afterward clarifying that she thinks Biden’s policies are bad for the country…

Hawley Introduces Bill to Reduce Pentagon’s Reliance on Technology from China and Other ‘Adversary Nations’

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, has introduced a bill aiming to reduce Chinese control over technology used by the U.S. armed forces.

Called the Protecting Critical Boards and Electronics Through Transparency and Enduring Reinvestment (PCBETTER) Act (pdf), the measure intends “to prevent Beijing from inserting and exploiting vulnerabilities in printed circuit boards (PCBs) that are made in China and used throughout the American military,” Hawley’s office said in an April 28 statement.

Hawley’s office said that “a disproportionate amount” of printed circuit boards used in the Pentagon’s electronic systems come from China, where they are “vulnerable to sabotage” by the Chinese regime.

Under the measure, Department of Defense contractors would be required to notify the Pentagon if the systems they provide contain printed circuit boards made in China “or other adversary nations” so that the U.S. military could take precautionary measures.

Water: The Forgotten Nutrient

Quick! What’s the most important nutrient that you need to consume several times each day? If you guessed protein, vitamin C, or calcium, you’d be wrong. It’s water. Even though water isn’t a vitamin or mineral, it’s a nutrient that’s vital to human life. If you think otherwise, consider this: You can live for weeks without food, but only for about three days without water. It’s considered essential because your body needs more than it can produce on its own. That’s because you lose a lot of water each day through evaporation, elimination, respiration, and sweat. Water is an incredible workhorse in so many ways. Here are just some of the things it does to keep you healthy: Fluid balance: Water helps you maintain the balance of fluids in your body. You’re made up of about 60 percent water, and when you become oversaturated, you lose water through urination. If …

German spies monitor anti-lockdown activists for suspected sedition

Germany’s domestic spy agency is monitoring individuals who have joined anti-lockdown protests to decide if their rejection of government curbs amounts to subversion and incitement to violence.

The surveillance includes some members of the “Querdenker” or “Lateral Thinkers” movement, which has been organising increasingly violent protests against coronavirus lockdowns and includes conspiracy theorists and suspected far-right extremists, a spokeswoman for the BfV spy agency said.

The movement started with small demonstrations in the southern city of Stuttgart last year but has grown in scope and reach, drawing to its protests Germans from all walks of life frustrated with lockdowns in place since November.

Authorities fear that far-right extremists and conspiracy theorists who either deny the existence of COVID-19 or downplay its threat to public health are exploiting lockdown frustrations to stir anger against politicians and state institutions five months before a general election.

Purchase Orders Show FDA Bought “Fresh” Livers of Viable Babies Killed in Abortions

Americans’ tax dollars are keeping the abortion industry going, not only by supporting the killing of unborn babies in abortions but also by purchasing their body parts for scientific research.

Documents obtained by Judicial Watch through a Freedom of Information Act request show just how connected the abortion industry is with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, National Institutes of Health and taxpayer-funded scientific research.

The Federalist recently highlighted one of these documents, an email from an FDA contract specialist asking for a quote for aborted babies’ “tissue” to be used in experiments involving “humanized mice.” The email was written to Advanced Bioscience Resources (ABR), a human tissue procurement group that works with Planned Parenthood and other abortion facilities.

On June 28, 2017, the FDA asked ABR for an estimate for 16 livers and 16 thymuses from second-trimester aborted babies. It specified that the babies’ bodies must be “free of known chromosomal abnormalities” and “fresh and never frozen.”

According to the document, the FDA wanted livers and thymuses “approximately two to three times per month.”

According to the FDA email, researchers wanted organs from babies between 16 and 24 weeks of pregnancy. Babies are viable outside the womb by about 22 weeks, so some of the aborted babies whose organs were harvested may have been viable outside the womb.

While the FDA referred to the organs as “tissue” and never to the babies from whom they came, it did acknowledge in a roundabout way that the aborted babies were, in fact, babies by mentioning their “mothers.”

In the email, the FDA contract specialist wrote, “No tissues where the mother is known to be positive for HIV or for Hepatitis A, B, or C viruses.” Later the specialist also made a reference to “maternal blood.”

These references to mothers are significant because they make the barbaric reality of what is being done clear. Mothers had their unborn babies killed in abortions. Then their babies’ bodies were dissected, labeled with a price tag and shipped to scientific researchers – at the American taxpayers’ expense.

BOONE, N.C. (AP) — Two deputies were killed and three other people including a suspected gunman were found dead after a lengthy standoff in North Carolina, a sheriff’s office said Thursday.

The Watauga County Sheriff’s office said Sgt. Chris Ward and K-9 Deputy Logan Fox were dispatched to a home in Boone at 9:44 a.m. Wednesday after the homeowner and his family didn’t report to work or answer telephone calls. Both were hit by gunfire. Other officers were able to pull out Ward, who later died at a hospital. Fox died at the scene.

“The individual suspected of killing the two officers is also suspected of killing two civilians in the residence,” the statement said. Sheriff Len Hagaman said they were the suspect’s mother and stepfather, WSOC-TV reported.

A Boone Police officer, a Boone firefighter and an Appalachian State University police officer were shot at during an initial attempt to rescue the deputies, and the Boone police officer was hit, but he escaped injury to his Kevlar helmet equipment, Hagaman told WSOC.

Morganton Department of Public Safety Maj. Ryan Lander told The News Herald just before 11 p.m. that the suspect appeared to have killed himself, the newspaper reported.

Hagaman said Ward died at a hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee.

When U.S. Catholic bishops hold their next national meeting in June, they’ll be deciding whether to send a tougher-than-ever message to President Joe Biden and other Catholic politicians: Don’t receive Communion if you persist in public advocacy of abortion rights.

At issue is a document that will be prepared for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops by its Committee on Doctrine, with the aim of clarifying the church’s stance on an issue that has repeatedly vexed the bishops in recent decades. It’s taken on new urgency now, in the eyes of many bishops, because Biden — only the second Catholic president — is the first to hold that office while espousing clear-cut support for abortion rights.

Such a stance, by a public figure, is “a grave moral evil,” according to Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City, Kansas, who chairs the USCCB’s Committee on Pro-Life Activities and believes it’s necessary to publicly rebuke Biden on the issue.

WATCH: Christian Pastor Arrested in London for Quoting ‘Homophobic’ Bible Verses

Police in London arrested a Christian street preacher for allegedly causing “alarm and distress” to pedestrians for citing allegedly “homophobic” verses from Genesis.

On Friday, Pastor John Sherwood was preaching alongside Pastor Peter Simpson of the Penn Free Methodist Church outside the Uxbridge Underground Station — in Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s own constituency.

Writing in the Conservative Woman on Tuesday, Pastor Simpson said that Sherwood preached on the final verses of Genisis 1, saying: “God’s design in creating mankind was to set human beings in families, headed by a father and a mother, not by two fathers or by two mothers. The distinction within mankind of just two genders, male and female, made in the image of God, constitutes the essence of God’s created order.”

Simpson said that the police informed them that three complaints were made in response to the street sermon.

He said that a police officer warned that he and Sherwood should avoid making any “homophobic statements” and that there is “no freedom to make statements which offend people”.

The police ultimately dragged Sherwood off his step stool and forcibly handcuffed the septuagenarian preacher.

Scott Outshines Biden, Enrages Libs With Inspiring Tale of Overcoming Adversity

Sen. Tim Scott (R., S.C.) delivered a powerful and inspiringly diverse response to President Joe Biden’s congressional address on Wednesday, causing professional journalists and other liberal ideologues to lose their minds.

Scott argued that Biden—a “good man” whose speech was “full of good words”—had failed to deliver on his promise to unite the country and “lower the temperature” after his victory in the 2020 election. “The Biden administration has pushed us apart,” he said, praising the bipartisan COVID-19 relief legislation passed under former president Donald Trump and the success of Operation Warp Speed. The radical policies Democrats have proposed, he argued, were not intended to find “common ground.”

Invoking his personal story of being raised in poverty by a single “prayin’ momma,” Scott challenged the lockdown policies backed by Democratic politicians that have closed down the institutions that aided his improbable rise, including schools and churches. He spoke of his experience as a black man in America and his struggle to be taken seriously by Democrats and their supporters.

“I get called ‘Uncle Tom’ and the N-word by progressives, by liberals,” said Scott, who also called out the Washington Post for publishing a widely condemned fact check suggesting “my family’s poverty was actually privilege.” He challenged the prevailing corporate and cultural norms regarding issues of race, denouncing those who are “making money and gaining power by pretending we haven’t made any progress at all.”

In contrast to Biden’s rambling tirade, Scott envisioned a “joyful springtime for our nation,” where his illiterate  grandfather “saw his family go from cotton to Congress in one lifetime.” This was precisely the claim that Post chief fact checker Glenn Kessler, whose grandfather was a Dutch steel magnate, dinged for lacking “nuance.”

Nuance was certainly lacking from the liberal response to Scott’s speech. MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace said the speech was “delivered from a planet where facts don’t matter.” Democratic analyst Jason Nichols, in a since-deleted tweet, called Scott a “clown” whose “ancestors are ashamed of him.” At least one left-wing media personality had to apologize for “an ironic joke” using racially charged language. The term “Uncle Tim” was trending on Twitter.

Facebook Blocks #ResignModi Posts for Hours as India Crisis Grows

Facebook Inc. blocked posts tagged #ResignModi before restoring them hours later, stoking a controversy that’s erupted over government requests to remove social media content as India grapples with an escalating Covid crisis.

Facebook said it barred the hashtag by mistake and not at the behest of the government, without elaborating. Facebook periodically blocks hashtags for a variety of reasons, some manually but many also based on automated internal guidelines. The error stemmed from content associated with the label and not the hashtag itself, the spokesperson added.

The hours-long block, which came ahead of the final phase of lawmaker elections in a key state and effectively wiped posts calling on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resign, follows public outrage and official efforts to curb content critical of the way his government has handled the pandemic. This year, the country established new rules that require the likes of Facebook and Twitter Inc. to take down unlawful content quicker, triggering a debate over freedom of speech in the world’s largest democracy.

Connecticut Lawmakers Vote to Repeal Religious Exemptions to Vaccines, Health Freedom Advocates Vow Legal Challenge

Connecticut lawmakers Tuesday voted to repeal the religious exemption for vaccines for all Connecticut students, from daycare through higher education.

House Bill 6423, “An Act Concerning Immunization,” passed by a vote of 22 – 14 after about nine hours of debate. The bill passed almost along party lines, with all but two Democrats in favor of removing the exemption, and all Republicans against. Two lawmakers, both Democrats, abstained.

The bill includes an amendment which allows students who had exemptions on file prior to the bill passing to remain in school. However future Connecticut students of any age will now be required to be fully vaccinated per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommended schedule.

Wasting no time, Gov. Ned Lamont signed the bill today.

Attorneys representing health freedom advocates and other opponents said they will bring legal actions to challenge the bill. Connecticut activists groups joined Children’s Health Defense in calling on the media to investigate if pharmaceutical money pouring into the state legislature had any influence on the vote.

Nearly 5,000 activists gathered Tuesday at the state Capitol to encourage legislators to vote no on the bill. The day began and ended with comments from several Connecticut legislators who told the crowd why they strongly opposed this bill.

Some legislators spoke of their opposition to government infringement on parental rights, religious freedoms and bodily autonomy. Others spoke to the issue of parents not being able to find medical doctors who will provide medical exemptions, even if their children were already injured by vaccines.

“We are at a critical time when our rights concerning freedom, religious freedom, and even the freedom to express one’s position or faith is being stripped away from us,” said Dr. Aaron Lewis, senior pastor at Family of God Church in Hartford. “Without immediate intervention, I’m afraid that the freedoms we’ve enjoyed will cease to be forever.”

Texas Counties Declare Disaster Over Border Crisis

Boyd says the county—which sits about 200 miles north of the U.S.–Mexico border—is used as a staging area for smuggling illegal aliens to Houston.

“What happens is they’ll bring them up from the border to somewhere in this area. They’ll drop them off at a temporary holding site and then someone from Houston comes and picks them up and then takes them to Houston, where they’re distributed across the United States,” he said.

Ex-Trump aide sues Biden administration, alleging discrimination against white farmers

A legal group started by former Trump aide Stephen Miller filed a class-action lawsuit on Monday on behalf of Texas’s agricultural commissioner and others arguing that the Biden administration’s funds reserved for “socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers” discriminate against white people.

The complaint from America First Legal (AFL) specifically takes issue with a proposal enacted by Congress as part of President Biden’s American Rescue Plan. The suit argues that through the program, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is “actively and invidiously discriminating against American citizens solely based upon their race.”

“The United States Department of Agriculture administers numerous statutes that provide government aid to ‘socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers,’” the group said in the complaint.

“The Department of Agriculture interprets this phrase to include African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, Alaskan natives, Asian-Americans, and Pacific Islanders,” the lawsuit noted. “But white farmers and ranchers are not included within the definition of ‘socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers,’ making them ineligible for aid under these federal programs.”

Collins was part of the three-man Apollo 11 crew that effectively ended the space race between the United States and Russia and fulfilled President John F. Kennedy’s challenge to reach the moon by the end of the 1960s.

Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins, who piloted the ship from which Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin left to make their historic first steps on the moon in 1969, died Wednesday of cancer, his family said. He was 90.

Collins was part of the three-man Apollo 11 crew that effectively ended the space race between the United States and Russia and fulfilled President John F. Kennedy’s challenge to reach the moon by the end of the 1960s.

Though he traveled some 238,000 miles to the moon and came within 69 miles, Collins never set foot on the lunar surface like his crewmates Aldrin and Armstrong, who died in 2012. None of the men flew in space after the Apollo 11 mission.

“It’s human nature to stretch, to go, to see, to understand,” Collins said on the 10th anniversary of the moon landing in 1979. “Exploration is not a choice really — it’s an imperative, and it’s simply a matter of timing as to when the option is exercised.”

Collins spent the eight-day mission piloting the command module,. While Armstrong and Aldrin descended to the moon’s surface in the lunar lander, Eagle, Collins remained alone in the command module, Columbia.

“I guess you’re about the only person around that doesn’t have TV coverage of the scene,” Mission Control radioed Collins after the landing.

“That’s all right. I don’t mind a bit,” he responded.

Collins was alone for nearly 28 hours before Armstrong and Aldrin finished their tasks on the moon’s surface and lifted off in the lunar lander. Collins was responsible for re-docking the two spacecraft before the men could begin heading back to Earth. Had something gone wrong and Aldrin and Armstrong been stuck on the moon’s surface — a real fear — Collins would have returned to Earth alone.

Though he was frequently asked if he regretted not landing on the moon, that was never an option for Collins, at least not on Apollo 11. Collins’ specialty was as a command module pilot, a job he compared to being the base-camp operator on a mountain climbing expedition. As a result, it meant he wasn’t considered to take part in the July 20, 1969, landing.

“I know that I would be a liar or a fool if I said that I have the best of the three Apollo 11 seats, but I can say with truth and equanimity that I am perfectly satisfied with the one I have,” he wrote in his 1974 autobiography, “Carrying the Fire.” “This venture has been structured for three men, and I consider my third to be as necessary as either of the other two.”

AP Sources: Feds Search Rudy Giuliani’s NYC Home, Office

New York (AP) — Federal agents on Wednesday raided Rudy Giuliani’s Manhattan home and office, seizing computers and cell phones in a major escalation of the Justice Department’s investigation into the business dealings of former President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer.

Rudy Giuliani’s Manhattan apartment and office were searched Wednesday by federal agents executing a warrant to seize evidence, including electronic devices, from the ex-New York mayor and lawyer to former President Donald Trump, people familiar with the matter said.

Manhattan federal prosecutors have been investigating Giuliani’s involvement with efforts to dig up dirt on Joe Biden in Ukraine ahead of the 2020 election. Executing a search warrant is an extraordinary move for prosecutors to take against a lawyer, let alone a lawyer for a former president, and it marks a major turning point in the long-running probe.

Prosecutors had been seeking approval for a Giuliani warrant from the Justice Department in Washington for months, but senior officials declined to approve it during the Trump administration for several reasons, including the proximity to the presidential election and Trump’s challenge to the results, according to one of the people. Giuliani served as Trump’s main lawyer alleging Biden’s win was due to widespread voter fraud.

Election watchdogs urge Jimmy Kimmel to scrap plans to host MyPillow CEO

Election integrity advocates are urging Jimmy Kimmel and ABC to cancel a scheduled appearance by MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” late Wednesday.

In a letter sent to Kimmel and several top executives at ABC, the groups, including Common Cause, the Democracy Initiative and the League of Women Voters of the United States, say Lindell should not be given a platform to spread misinformation about the 2020 presidential election.

“Lindell’s work in pushing election disinformation has already had significant consequences for our nation, including the violent insurrection on January 6th at the U.S. Capitol that led to at least five people losing their lives,” their letter reads.

Lindell’s unproven conspiracy theories about electoral fraud are “also rooted in racism and white supremacy,” the groups wrote.

“The disinformation he is trying to sell is part of a larger narrative that essentially wants to throw out millions of votes from cities where people of color make up a majority or significant portion of the voting population, including Detroit, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Phoenix, and Las Vegas,” they said.

Wisconsin has had 605 COVID-19 cases among the 1.8 million residents who are fully vaccinated, state health officials said Tuesday after the Wisconsin State Journal reported that officials had repeatedly declined to release the data.

The “breakthrough” infections represent 0.03% of people who have had both doses of the Moderna or Pfizer injections or the single-dose Johnson & Johnson shot.

That’s a higher share than the 0.008% represented by 7,157 breakthrough cases among more than 87 million fully immunized Americans reported last week by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But the CDC said the national tally is an undercount, and experts say some infections are expected among those fully vaccinated because no vaccine is 100% effective.

North Carolina man killed by deputies hit them with car: prosecutors

District Attorney Andrew Womble told a judge at a hearing Wednesday that he viewed body camera video and disagreed with a characterization by attorneys for the family of Andrew Brown Jr. that his car was stationary when the shooting started.

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — A North Carolina prosecutor says that a Black man killed by deputies hit law enforcement officers with his car before they opened fire.

District Attorney Andrew Womble told a judge at a hearing Wednesday that he viewed body camera video and disagreed with a characterization by attorneys for the family of Andrew Brown Jr. that his car was stationary when the shooting started.

Womble said the video shows that Brown’s car made contact with law enforcement twice before shots could be heard on the video.

“As it backs up, it does make contact with law enforcement officers,” he said, adding that the car stops again. “The next movement of the car is forward. It is in the direction of law enforcement and makes contact with law enforcement. It is then and only then that you hear shots.”

Outdoor mask guidance echoes what many Americans already do

In the small Nebraska town of Oxford, the school district dropped its mask mandate last month in what was a fairly straightforward decision: Cases were down dramatically and it didn’t bother local officials that their move flouted Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.

Those federal mask guidelines just didn’t seem to fit local conditions well in the town of about 800 people where hardly anyone wears a mask.

“We haven’t paid a whole lot of attention to what is going on at the federal level — mainly what is coming out through the state,” Southern Valley Superintendent Bryce Jorgensen said. “You just can’t compare Chicago to Oxford, Nebraska. Things are just different.”

New CDC mask guidance draws clear line between vaccinated and unvaccinated Americans

In the eyes of U.S. health officials, there are two groups of people: those who are vaccinated against COVID-19 and those who are not. And they’re stepping up their efforts to get unvaccinated Americans to switch sides.

New guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding when people can safely shed their masks make the benefits of vaccination abundantly clear. Instead of focusing on the serious and potentially deadly risk of COVID-19 to those who aren’t immunized, they emphasize the extent to which those who are can return to an almost-normal life.

“Over the past year we have spent a lot of time telling Americans what they cannot do, what they should not do,” Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the CDC, said in a briefing Tuesday. “Today I’m going to tell you some of the things you can do — if you are fully vaccinated.”

Walensky painted a detailed picture of the greater freedom vaccinated Americans can safely enjoy compared with their unvaccinated peers. She and other health officials hoped that doing so would incentivize those who haven’t yet rolled up their sleeves to change their minds and get their shots.

CEO of $2 Billion Startup Ousted for Taking LSD at Work

The fired CEO, Justin Zhu, said the board’s chief reason for ousting him was that he took LSD, an illegal drug in the U.S., before a meeting in 2019. Zhu told Bloomberg he was experimenting by taking a limited amount of the drug, or microdosing, in an effort to boost his focus.

In an email to staff, co-founder Andrew Boni said Zhu’s dismissal was over unspecified violations of “Iterable’s Employee Handbook, policies and values.” The board replaced Zhu with Boni as CEO, Boni wrote. A spokeswoman for the San Francisco-based company didn’t immediately provide a comment.

Judicial Watch: Documents Show CA State Officials Coordinated with Big Tech to Censor Americans’ Election Posts

Used Biden for President’s Communications Firm to Identify ‘Misinformation’

(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch announced today that it received 540 pages and a supplemental four pages of documents from the office of the Secretary of State of California revealing how state officials pressured social media companies (Twitter, Facebook, Google (YouTube)) to censor posts about the 2020 election. Included in these documents were “misinformation briefings” emails that were compiled by communications firm SKDK, that lists Biden for President as their top client of 2020. The documents show how the state agency successfully pressured YouTube to censor a Judicial Watch video concerning the vote by mail and a Judicial Watch lawsuit settlement about California voter roll clean up.

The records were obtained in response to Judicial Watch’s California Public Records Act (CPRA) requests to the Office of the California Secretary of State for records related to the Office of Election Cybersecurity’s database of social media posts; communications with social media companies; and other social media related records regarding the 2020 elections. Judicial Watch filed the requests after a December 2020 report surfaced that the state agency was surveilling, tracking, and seeking to censor the speech of Americans:

The Office of Election Cybersecurity in the California Secretary of State’s office monitored and tracked social media posts, decided if they were misinformation, stored the posts in an internal database coded by threat level, and on 31 different occasions requested posts be removed. In 24 cases, the social media companies agreed and either took down the posts or flagged them as misinformation, according to Jenna Dresner, senior public information officer for the Office of Election Cybersecurity.

“We don’t take down posts, that is not our role to play,” Dresner said. “We alert potential sources of misinformation to the social media companies and we let them make that call based on community standards they created.”

On September 24, 2020, a California Secretary of State chartlists a video from Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton and falsely alleges:

Head of conservative group Judicial Watch Hosts video alleging Democrats benefit from incorrect voter rolls and ballot collection.

The Secretary of State’s office details its communication with YouTube: “We wanted to flag this YouTube video because it misleads community members about elections or other civic processes and misrepresents the safety and security of mail-in ballots.” The chart quotes Fitton describing Judicial Watch’s statement about its federal lawsuit settlement with Los Angeles County that will require it to clean up voter rolls and how a Michigan court “changed the rules” on ballot deadlines and ballot harvesting. (The controversial decision was overturned in October 2020.)

The document shows that California state officials contacted YouTube directly to remove the video on September 24, 2020, and that YouTube seemed to respond by deleting the video on September 27, 2020. . .

Responding to the news that Moscow police have detained several activists and journalists identified using facial recognition technology as attendees of the peaceful rally in support of Aleksei Navalny on 21 April, Natalia Zviagina, Amnesty International’s Moscow Office Director, said:

“This is a new and extremely disturbing turn of events. Never before have the police been able to cast their net so widely to identify and target peaceful protesters using facial recognition technology. The police detained not only those who had joined the protests but also at least three journalists who were simply reporting on the rally.

“Previously the protesters’ main risk was being beaten and arbitrarily detained by police at a rally. As of now, avoiding this fate does not mean that you can feel safe – the repressive state knows who you are and can come for you at any point. The risk of attempting to exercise your right to freedom of peaceful assembly has never been so high in Russia.

Pompeo Pushes Investigation Into Kerry for Leaking Secrets to Iran

Former secretary of state Mike Pompeo and Republican foreign policy leaders in Congress are demanding a formal investigation into John Kerry following revelations he informed Iranian leaders about covert Israeli military operations.

A leaked audio recording of Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif, who worked closely with Kerry when the 2015 nuclear accord was negotiated, catches the Iranian official claiming the former Obama administration secretary of state informed him about at least 200 Israeli strikes on Iranian military positions in Syria. That Kerry shared these intimate details “to his astonishment,” according to the New York Times, suggests Kerry may have been disclosing classified information. It would also represent a stunning betrayal of America’s closest Middle East ally. Israel relies on the United States to protect shared intelligence from its top regional enemy.

The revelation is already generating calls for Kerry, the special presidential envoy for climate, to resign from the Biden administration and face a congressional investigation for possibly spilling highly classified secrets to one of America’s leading enemies.

Former Trump administration secretary of state Mike Pompeo said the audio tape proves “what I’ve said for years: That [Zarif] continued to engage with former secretary of state Kerry on policy matters after Kerry’s public service and, according to Zarif, Kerry informed the Iranians of Israeli operations.”

John Kerry is skirting the line of treason with Iran

The rather curious defining feature of Democratic Party foreign policy, going back at least four decades, is that our friends must be bullied and our enemies must be appeased. The Democratic worldview holds that America is a source of geopolitical evil whose destructive influences must be tamed and reined in, and that America’s enemies must be emboldened in order to tilt the global playing field away from America’s noxious ambit.

Barack Obama’s administration encapsulated this toxic ideology through its single-minded pursuit of a nuclear accord with the world’s No. 1 state sponsor of terrorism during the president’s lame-duck second term. Many of the leading hucksters who comprised Team Obama’s “negotiators” with Tehran — Wendy Sherman, Robert Malley, and Colin Kahl among them — are now reprising their roles during Uncle Joe Biden’s third Obama term.

The Enemy Within | “John Kerry Divulged HUNDREDS of Israel’s Covert Attacks to Iran, Leak Reveals”

(AP Photo/Alex Brandon, Pool, File)

Former Secretary of State John Kerry, now President Joe Biden’s climate envoy, briefed Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on hundreds of Israel’s covert attacks on Iranian interests in Syria, according to leaked audio reported by The New York Times on Sunday. This revelation echoes reports that Obama officials saved the life of terrorist and Quds Force leader Qasem Soleimani by notifying Iran about an Israeli plot to assassinate him in 2015.

“Former Secretary of State John Kerry informed him that Israel had attacked Iranian interests in Syria at least 200 times, to his astonishment, Mr. Zarif said,” according to the Times.

As Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey noted, the Times buried this lede in its story about the leaked audio, which featured lengthy remarks from Zarif. The Times focused on Zarif’s complaints that the Revolutionary Guard Corps calls the shots in Iran, often overlooking diplomatic concerns. Zarif accused Soleimani of undermining the Iran nuclear deal, among other things.

While these internal conflicts in the Iranian government are noteworthy, it seems far more shocking and newsworthy that Kerry would expose as many as two hundred covert Israeli attacks on Iranian interests in Syria.

According to a copy of the recusal obtained by the news outlet, the court received filings at 4 p.m. that included names of new attorneys, including Viskovic, who worked at the office of Coury “as an extern within the past five years.” Viskovic now holds a position as a junior associate at Kolodin Law Group PLLC, which is representing the Florida-based cybersecurity firm Cyber Ninjas in court. Analysis: Three Vulnerable Senate Democrats Give GOP Shot Retaking Upper Chamber

Republicans did not have a great year in 2020, but 2022 could be a much better year than anyone is expecting – especially if they target these three vulnerable Senate Democrats who each won their seats with 50 percent of the vote or less.

Democrats control the Senate, but barely. The 50-50 split means Vice President Kamela Harris is needed to break ties – and that a single Democrat could stop his party’s agenda at anytime.

Working in the Democrats’ favor is their culture of putting the agenda first. While Republicans loathe to burn a seat, Democrats recognized they were sent to Washington to accomplish a mission, not build a nest and feather it. President Barack H. Obama lost the House and the Senate for the majority of his two terms, but his landmark legislations, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, remain the law of the land.

If Republicans stand any chance of stopping President Joseph R.Biden Jr.‘s agenda in the Senate, they have to target and pressure vulnerable Senate Democrats, so the fear of losing their seat breaks their party allegiance.

Colorado’s Sen. Michael F. Bennet seems safe from the outside looking in, but the former investment banker and senior official in the Clinton Justice Department had a tough race against a Republican newcomer retired Air Force Lt. Col. Darryl L. Glenn in 2016.

Bennet can be beaten.

The next vulnerable Senate Democrat is Nevada’s Sen. Catherine Marie Cortez Masto (pictured right), annointed by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to be his successor and who is a leading figure in the Reid political machine–a machine, which took a big hit when radical leftist Judith Whitmer became the new state party chairwoman earlier this year.

This Nevada Senate seat is in play.

New Hampshire

The first two examples of endangered Senate Democrats earned their designation from close races in 2016 and their recent demonstrated weakness, Bennet’s failed White House run and Cortez Masto’s loss of control of her state party.

In the case of New Hampshire’s Sen. Margaret C. “Maggie” Hassan (pictured left), she was a very close race in 2016 and unlike the first two, she has a serious challenger on the horizon Gov. Christopher T. Sununu.

Trump redux

The final factor making these five Democratic senators vulnerable is President Donald J. Trump himself.

Trump is still the biggest and only game in town. No other political figure in American politics generates the passion and attention as Trump – and if he is fully engaged in targeting these seats, they are flipping to the GOP.

Texas state lawmaker says that according to science there are 6 biological sexes

Texas Democratic state representative on Tuesday claimed that there are six biological sexes according to science.

Lone Star State Rep. James Talarico said “modern science obviously recognizes there are many more than two biological sexes” and that the number is actually six, which he noted that he found surprising.

The Washington Times reported: “He explained that there are ‘six really common biological sexes’ based on X and Y chromosomes: Not just XX (female) and XY (male), but also single X, XXY, XYY and XXXY.”

According to the outlet, Talarico said, “Biologically speaking, scientifically speaking, sex is a spectrum, and oftentimes can be very ambiguous.”

Oscars 2021: Ricky Gervais trolls ‘host-less’ Academy Awards and tweets 2020 Golden Globes monologue

The Academy Awards on Sunday was a very different show due to the COVID-19 pandemic and had no host or audience and just a handful of presenters and nominees.

But the reason for the changes didn’t stop British comedian and actor Ricky Gervais from the trolling the 2021 Oscars telecast.

‘It’s The Oscars tonight! I wasn’t invited. Was it something I said?’ he tweeted as he shared video from his no holds barred celebrity take down during his 2020 Golden Globes hosting gig.

Minnesota AG explains why Floyd’s death not charged as hate crime

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison made his case for why George Floyd’s death was not charged as a hate crime, arguing that systemic racism, not individual racial motivation, was at work when former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck for nine minutes.

In an interview with “60 Minutes” that aired on Sunday, CBS’s Scott Pelley asked Ellison if he thought Floyd’s death was a hate crime. After a brief pause, Ellison responded it wasn’t.

“I wouldn’t call it that because hate crimes are crimes where there’s an explicit motive and of bias,” Ellison said. “We don’t have any evidence that Derek Chauvin factored in George Floyd’s race as he did what he did.”

Spanish Man Charged With Infecting 22 People With COVID-19

MADRID—A Spanish man with COVID-19 symptoms who coughed on work colleagues and told them “I’m going to give you all the coronavirus” has been charged with intentionally causing injury after allegedly infecting 22 people. Spanish police said their investigation began after a COVID-19 outbreak at the company where the 40-year-old man worked on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca. Days before the outbreak, the man showed COVID-19 symptoms but refused his colleagues’ suggestions to go home and self-isolate, police said in a statement. After work, and showing no improvement, he went for a PCR test before visiting a gym and returning to work the next day. Though his superiors told him to go home after he allegedly had showed a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees F), the man refused. He walked around his workplace, lowering his face mask and coughing on people, saying “I’m going to infect you all …

Los Angeles Hypocrites Remove Homeless Camp and Erect Fence to Protect the Stars at Oscars

The Hollywood hypocrites were accused of removing homeless camps and erecting a fence to protect the elites for the 93rd Academy Awards on Sunday night.

The perimeter around Union Station is cordoned off by security fences and the entrances to the building are blocked to prevent the wrong element from gaining access. reported:

Hollywood is full of anti-border wall celebrities. But on Tinseltown’s biggest night, ten-foot security fences have been erected around Union Station in Los Angeles, California, to keep celebrities safe and the public out during Sunday’s 93rd Academy Awards.

The perimeter around Union Station is cordoned off by security fences and the entrances to the building are blocked by similar structures. Signs posted to the fences bear a stark warning: “This property is closed to the public. No entry without permission”…

…The hypocrisy seen in the contrast between Hollywood’s anti-border wall posturing and the erection of a security fence around the Academy Awards is similar to the contrast between Hollywood’s anti-Second Amendment rhetoric and the use of good guys with guns to keep celebrities safe.

You’re no safer from COVID-19 social distancing at 6 or 60 feet, study says

Social distancing inside at 60 feet is no safer than at 6 feet  — and “exposure time” indoors is actually far more important, according to a new study from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

In a report that challenges widely accepted COVID-19 prevention guidelines, researchers say there’s “little benefit” to health officials’ “6-foot rule” especially when wearing masks inside.

“The distancing isn’t helping you that much and it’s also giving you a false sense of security because you’re as safe at 6 feet as you are at 60 feet if you’re indoors,” MIT engineering professor Martin Bazant, who authored the study, told CNBC.

In one extraordinary moment on the tape that surfaced Sunday, Mr. Zarif departed from the reverential official line on Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani, the commander of the Guards’ elite Quds Force, the foreign-facing arm of Iran’s security apparatus, who was killed by the United States in January 2020.

The general, Mr. Zarif said, undermined him at many steps, working with Russia to sabotage the nuclear deal between Iran and world powers and adopting policies toward Syria’s long war that damaged Iran’s interests.

In the latest episode of “TRUTH” with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Kennedy interviews Dr. Joseph Mercola on the fear-driven COVID-19 narrative, ongoing efforts to resist government restrictions and the loss of freedom seen around the world.

Highlights from their wide-ranging discussion include:

  • Notes about the soon-to-be-released book “The Truth About COVID-19,” by Mercola and Ronnie Cummins. Kennedy, who wrote the forward to the book, says the pandemic is being used to shift wealth upwards, abolish civil rights and destroy democracy. The official release of the book is April 29.
  • The massive effort from the get-go to sell the idea that the only possible way to control COVID was through masks and lockdowns.
  • How the public was largely conditioned to believe the world needed to wait on a vaccine for any meaningful intervention against COVID.
  • How government officials and the media suppressed information about potential treatments such as hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin.
  • How personal data collected by Google over the past nearly two decades is being used to manipulate public behavior.
  • How Google searches steer people away from anything that goes against Pharma’s narrative including natural health, chiropractors and nutrition.

“The possibility of the conjunction came so close to the closest approach time that there wasn’t time to compute and execute a debris avoidance maneuver with confidence, so the SpaceX team elected to have the crew don their pressure suits out of an abundance of caution,” NASA spokesperson Kelly Humphries told Futurism.

“It was important doing something special for my girls because of the hard year we had during the coronavirus pandemic. I wanted them to feel like 2020 was another year spent with mom making beautiful memories,” Flores-Gonzalez told CNN.

“It was never with the purpose someone would find the balloon. I thought it would deflate and would just disappear somewhere in a tree nearby.”

But one of those balloons did make it to a man with white facial hair—and a big heart.

Cuomo’s Office Won’t Reveal What It Told DOJ About CCP Virus Deaths at Nursing Homes

The office of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo refused to say what it told the Department of Justice regarding CCP virus outbreaks in nursing homes, in part because the disclosure would be an “invasion of personal privacy.” The DOJ sent requests to several states last year concerning statistics on deaths and infection in nursing homes from the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, commonly known as the novel coronavirus. The initial request was expanded in December following news reports that the state’s nursing home numbers were significantly undercounted. Cuomo has been cooperating with the DOJ since last year, but his office declined a request from The Associated Press for copies of what was provided to the federal authorities. Notably, the governor had supported releasing the same records earlier this year. “Look, I would have no problem with it,” the governor said in February. “I would have to have the lawyers talk …

Maxine Waters’s Long History of Reckless Rhetoric

The Ku Klux Klan was in Huntington Beach, Calif., on April 12, holding a “White Lives Matter” rally. It was a 37-minute drive away from the Hawthorne district office of Rep. Maxine Waters. “Auntie Maxine” (as the Democrat calls herself) declined to confront the Klan. But she flew all the way to Minneapolis last weekend to coach protesters awaiting the outcome of the Derek Chauvin trial.

“I hope we get a verdict that says guilty, guilty, guilty,” Ms. Waters said. “And if we don’t . . . we’ve got to stay on the street. We have to get more active, we’ve got to get more confrontational.”

The 82-year-old lawmaker has been notorious for such incendiary language since she was first elected to Congress in 1990. She called the 1992 riots that followed the acquittal of the Los Angeles police officers who were filmed beating Rodney King an “insurrection.” She meant it as a term of approbation. Sixty-three people died during the L.A. riots, but Ms. Waters declared that she wouldn’t tell her constituents “to go inside, to be peaceful, that they have to accept the verdict.”

Ms. Waters has always shunned the peacemaker role in favor of rioting. Thirty years after the L.A. riots, nothing has changed.

Obama administration scientist says climate ‘emergency’ is based on fallacy

‘The Science,” we’re told, is settled. How many times have you heard it?

Humans have broken the earth’s climate. Temperatures are rising, sea level is surging, ice is disappearing, and heat waves, storms, droughts, floods, and wildfires are an ever-worsening scourge on the world. Greenhouse gas emissions are causing all of this. And unless they’re eliminated promptly by radical changes to society and its energy systems, “The Science” says Earth is doomed.

Yes, it’s true that the globe is warming, and that humans are exerting a warming influence upon it. But beyond that — to paraphrase the classic movie “The Princess Bride” — “I do not think ‘The Science’ says what you think it says.”

For example, both research literature and government reports state clearly that heat waves in the US are now no more common than they were in 1900, and that the warmest temperatures in the US have not risen in the past fifty years. When I tell people this, most are incredulous. Some gasp. And some get downright hostile.

These are almost certainly not the only climate facts you haven’t heard. Here are three more that might surprise you, drawn from recent published research or assessments of climate science published by the US government and the UN:

  •  Humans have had no detectable impact on hurricanes over the past century.
  • Greenland’s ice sheet isn’t shrinking any more rapidly today than it was 80 years ago.
  • The global area burned by wildfires has declined more than 25 percent since 2003 and 2020 was one of the lowest years on record.

Why haven’t you heard these facts before? . . .

Colorado’s Victim Rights Act leaves some crime victims without protection

Michael Bird intended to see the court case through after he was punched in the face during an argument with a neighbor last year.

The neighbor was arrested and charged with assault under Englewood’s municipal ordinances. When Bird tried to attend the first hearing in Englewood Municipal Court, he found out it had been rescheduled. He would be informed of the new date, he was told.

But he never heard another peep from anyone about the case, he said, until March, when he found out the charges had been dropped and the case dismissed at the request of the prosecutor.

“I was dumbfounded,” he said. “The fact that I wasn’t notified at all, that I had no voice in what proceeded with this, it left me feeling revictimized.”

Under Colorado law, victims of some crimes are guaranteed certain rights during the court process. Those victims are entitled to be notified of key hearings and to have a chance to weigh in on a prosecutor’s decision to offer a plea deal or otherwise resolve a case. They also have the right to be told about scheduling changes or cancellations, among numerous other protections. Victims who feel they’ve been mistreated can file a complaint that is investigated by state officials.

But the Victim Rights Act only applies to certain crimes charged under state law, and does not cover municipal courts, where crimes are prosecuted under local ordinances. At that level, officials can choose to follow the guidelines, but are not mandated to provide any rights to victims.

That leaves an entire swath of crime victims in Colorado without the protections afforded others, and with no recourse or avenue to file a complaint if they feel they’ve been mistreated.

Donald Trump Supporters Square Off Against GOP Leadership in Savannah

Members of the Chatham County Republican Party apparently had an unsuccessful convention last weekend in Savannah as witnesses said a rift between pro-Trumpers and the party establishment provoked a shouting match that ended business prematurely.

These events transpired at a restaurant last Saturday.

The Georgia Star News made repeated  attempts this week to interview Chatham County GOP Chair Don Hodges and party official Carl Smith for their perspectives. Those attempts ended unsuccessfully.

Robert Taylor, who said he belongs to the GOP’s pro-Trump wing, said the fracas began when people realized they couldn’t nominate new officers from the floor.

“They didn’t want any of us conservative people to have anything to do with this,” Taylor said, adding the people in charge were Republicans-in-Name-Only (RINOs).

“It got real loud. Everybody was yelling. They wanted a point of order. What they were trying to do was get them to nominate from the floor. Carl Smith said it’s not in our rules that we have to do that. That is when the meeting broke down completely. All of it was yelling and screaming from then on.”

Members of the Chatham County Republican Party select delegates to represent their area at GOP state and national conventions.

“We are done with the good ole boy system, and we are apt to change it,” Taylor told The Star News.

Savannah resident Debbie Broderick said last weekend’s melee never reached outlandish proportions.

“I didn’t see anybody rioting. I didn’t see anybody standing on tables. Nobody yelled profanities. There was nothing of that sort that went on,” Broderick said.

“There were just people strong in their convictions, and they didn’t want to be railroaded. They wanted to have a voice, simple as that.”

Broderick told The Star News that the convention needs more transparency.

Health officials are dropping outdoor mask mandates, following numerous studies

Eleanor Bartow, DCNF

  • Several studies have shown a low risk of COVID-19 transmission outdoors, except when there is lengthy interaction with others at a close distance.
  • Mask requirements need to be nuanced or some people will ignore the rules, according to a public health expert.
  • Several cities have relaxed outdoor mask requirements this month, but many states still require outdoor masks when social distancing cannot be maintained.

It’s time for authorities to reduce outdoor masking requirements and give Americans more credit for understanding the nuances of the risks of outdoor transmission of COVID-19, multiple studies and health experts have said.

Several studies since October have shown a low risk of COVID-19 transmission outdoors, with the exception being lengthy interaction with others at a close distance.
